Graham has gone a perfect 4-0 against Burkburnett recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Burkburnett took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Graham, who comes in off a win.
Graham took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They blew past Lake Worth 35-10. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Steers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Bullfrogs are ranked 550th).
Jace Gill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 70 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, while also throwing for 130 yards on 11 of 21 attempts.
Graham's run defense was locked in: Lake Worth could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Tripp Mahaney stood above the rest. He made eight total tackles and snagged an interception. Graham didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.8.
Meanwhile, Burkburnett was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 62-13 loss at the hands of Jacksboro. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Graham will have to keep a close watch on Griffen Johnston and George Moseley, a pair of players who had a big impact on Burkburnett's prior game. Johnston picked up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Moseley picked up 76 receiving yards and one score. With that strong performance, Johnston is now averaging an impressive 101 receiving yards per game.
Burkburnett didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joseph Montgomery and Sam Easter.
Graham now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Burkburnett, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything came up roses for Graham against Burkburnett in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 77-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Steers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
