The Gillespie Miners will face off against the Mater Dei Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gillespie will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Gillespie proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Greenville 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Miners have posted since March 18th.

Laci Schuckenbrock and Sadie Sholtis did most of the damage at the plate: Schuckenbrock went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Sholtis went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Schuckenbrock has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gillian Smith, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Mater Dei came up short against Nashville on Thursday and fell 10-5. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Riley Rolves made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Katelin Huelsmann, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Gillespie, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gillespie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. However, it's not like Mater Dei struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gillespie skirted past Mater Dei 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
