Liberty County is 9-1 against Altha since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Liberty County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Blountstown with a sharp 14-3 win on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the game before.
Gavin Jerkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Liberty County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-11 otherwise. Jerkins was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Sanders, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cayson Evans was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Altha won against Wakulla Christian School last Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out Ponce De Leon 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Like Liberty County, Altha also got a great game from a two-way player: Griffin Pickron. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Pickron has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Pickron wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Riley Rowe, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Altha pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Liberty County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Altha struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Liberty County took their win against Altha when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
