Basketball Recap: Sonora Sets Scoring Season-High Against Faith Lutheran

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sonora). They came out on top against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders by a score of 74-62 on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 675th in California, while the Crusaders are ranked 18th in Nevada).

Sonora is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Faith Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Sonora will square off against Cerritos at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Sonora knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Cerritos likes a good challenge. As for Faith Lutheran, they will face off against Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
