The Amherst Broncos waltzed into their matchup on Monday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They blew past Pleasanton 68-36 at home. Amherst has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Tayje Hadwiger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-6 from long range and dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Russell, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Amherst's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Pleasanton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amherst won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Amherst likes a good challenge. As for Pleasanton, they will head out on the road to face off against Fullerton on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Fullerton is ranked 212th, while Pleasanton is ranked 209th).
