Tshumbi Johnson and D'ernest Johnson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Gulf Coast. The connection was good for 60 yards, the longest such play in 5A District 12 this season.
Johnson of Immokalee ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against the Sharks last week. Johnson scampered for 58 yards on the play and finished with 83 on the day as his team topped Gulf Coast.
Immokalee's dynamic duo of Johnson and Johnson proved tough for Pete Formina's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns and Johnson had 68 yards receiving. Xavier Richardson helped Immokalee's passing attack out by catching four balls for 60 yards.
Alex Garcia was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 19 carries as Golden Gate beat the Sharks. Breon Brown also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Johnson and Johnson the Indians have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Johnson leads the league in passing with 740 yards, while Johnson has rushed for 289 yards this season. The Titans' Dominic Enyart leads the league in receiving yards with 236 on 16 catches.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lely takes on Immokalee. The Trojans have allowed 69 points this season, while the Indians have given up 109.
Immokalee took down Gulf Coast 42-9 last week, the largest margin of any game. Johnson in the win.
