Two dominant players in Ava Wilson and Jillian Barr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Shelbyville Golden Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Delta Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shelbyville will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Shelbyville can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They blew past Whiteland 60-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Shelbyville has posted since December 8, 2023.
Delta suffered their biggest defeat since November 7, 2023 on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 60-36 loss at the hands of Jay County. While losing is never fun, Delta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Jay County is ranked 36th).
Despite the defeat, Delta saw an underclassman step up: Barr scored 14 points along with nine blocks and six rebounds. Barr hasn't dropped below two blocks for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Paizley Cool, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Shelbyville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Everything came up roses for Shelbyville against Delta in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 66-31 win. With Shelbyville ahead 39-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
