Central Heights is on a seven-game streak of home losses, the Trojans an 18-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Central Heights Vikings will take on the Osawatomie Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Central Heights came up short against the Panthers and fell 38-30. While losing is never fun, Central Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Panthers are ranked 156th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sydney Evans, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Melaney Chrisjohn, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-16, which was the final score in Osawatomie's tilt against the Eagles on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Osawatomie in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Central Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Osawatomie, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Central Heights against the Trojans in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 56-21 victory. With Central Heights ahead 34-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
