Magnolia has been on the road for four straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Samueli Academy Firewolves at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, Magnolia took a serious blow against Pioneer, falling 74-35. While losing is never fun, Magnolia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 593rd, while Pioneer is ranked 178th).
Meanwhile, Samueli Academy took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 51-16 victory over Ganesha. With Samueli Academy ahead 24-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Samueli Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julian Chanelo led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 5 steals. Chanelo hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Morgan Ordaz, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds.
The last time Magnolia won on the road was back last Monday. Having now lost four straight away games, they've bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Samueli Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Magnolia strolled past Samueli Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 45-28. Does Magnolia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Samueli Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
