Chapel Hill has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hillside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chapel Hill has four straight wins, Hillside has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hillside's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Chapel Hill hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Tigers didn't even let Northern Durham on the board on Friday, marking the Tigers' second-straight 12-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Evans looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, James Staats was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Campos, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Chapel Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hillside came up short against Northern Durham on Wednesday and fell 5-1.
Caleb Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Chapel Hill pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hillside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Hillside's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Chapel Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hillside, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Chapel Hill keep running through batters, or will the Hornets buck the trend?
Everything went Chapel Hill's way against Hillside when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Chapel Hill made off with a 15-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
