Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hurricane

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hurricane walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Pine View Panthers on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashlyn Hirschi made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Hirschi was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Hurricane let Kaylee Clyde and Ruby Seely run wild. Clyde fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2, while Seely went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Seely has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Dominguez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Hurricane was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are 9-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the third in a row for Hurricane, bringing their record up to 14-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pine View, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-21.

Hurricane will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
