Leon has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Buchholz Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Leon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 389th, while the Bobcats are ranked 154th).
Last Thursday, Leon didn't have too much trouble with the Baby Rattlers at home as they won 55-39. The win was just what Leon needed coming off of a 68-28 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Buchholz didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Rams last Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 41-35 victory.
Jamison Cardwell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Buchholz's points. Kennedy Wyckoff was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Leon's record now sits at 6-17. As for Buchholz, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-8.
Leon opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-37 loss to the Bobcats. Can Leon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
