Two dominant backs in Montgomery Fisher and Denyn Beachel are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Milton Black Panthers will welcome the Warrior Run Defenders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Milton is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Mount Carmel on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Black Panthers came up short against the RED TORNADOES, falling 48-25. The Black Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-12.
Meanwhile, Warrior Run waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-0 win over the Bluejays. The Defenders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Warrior Run's win came from a few key players Milton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was James Keifer, who threw for 198 yards and four TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cohen Zechman, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Warrior Run was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in seven consecutive matchups.
Warrior Run didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Maxwell Fogelman.
Warrior Run's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Milton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Milton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 200.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Warrior Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging 200.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
