The Stony Point Tigers came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 56-51 victory over Round Rock. Given Stony Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Round Rock is ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stony Point was led to victory by Junior Goodlet and Davaughn Hueitt. Goodlet scored 24 points along with six rebounds, while Hueitt dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hueitt has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Lineberger, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Stony Point pushed their record up to 27-1 with that victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Round Rock, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-10.
Stony Point will head out on the road to square off against Cedar Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Ridge and Stony Point are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Round Rock, they will be playing at home against Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
