Southern Fulton ended up on the wrong side of a rough 53-30 walloping at the hands of McConnellsburg. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southern Fulton in their matchups with McConnellsburg: they've now lost four in a row.
Southern Fulton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Mellott, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter Ward, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Southern Fulton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Dom Jefferson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McConnellsburg, scoring 24 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Mellott, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Southern Fulton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for McConnellsburg, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Fulton will take on Meyersdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McConnellsburg, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against GVCS Broadfording at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. The timing is sure in McConnellsburg's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while GVCS Broadfording has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
