The Springdale Prep Lions suffered their biggest defeat since December 29, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 65-39 walloping at the hands of Shabach Christian Academy Blue. While losing is never fun, Springdale Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Shabach Christian Academy Blue is ranked 29th).
Despite the loss, Springdale Prep saw an underclassman step up: Anya Neufeld dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Neufeld hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Samayria Burrison, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Springdale Prep has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-20 record this season. As for Shabach Christian Academy Blue, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Springdale Prep will head out on the road to challenge Shipley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Shipley will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Shabach Christian Academy Blue will take on Gerstell Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gerstell Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
