Brewer had won four straight home games and Zoe Drake did her part to make it five on Tuesday. Everything went the Witches' way against Brunswick as they made off with a 3-0 win thanks in part to Drake, who had nine aces and seven digs. Drake is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-10, 25-16.
Meanwhile, Hampden got the win against Nokomis on Monday by a conclusive 3-0. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Hampden took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-10, 25-7.
Hampden's win came from a few key players Brewer will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Daniella Madore, who had 16 assists and two aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in kills (two). Lilianne Montgomery-Rice was another key player, getting four aces.
Hampden was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.
Hampden's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Brewer, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Brewer has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 16.6 aces per game.
