Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is St. Charles East's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

St. Charles East got themselves on the board against Central on Friday, but Central never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Fighting Saints have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Kyli Dunn, who gave up just a hit to keep Central off the board. Dunn has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Charles East let Lexi Majkszak and Caleigh Higgins run wild. Majkszak went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Higgins went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Majkszak a new career-high. Leighton Colley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

St. Charles East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Charles East has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Central, they dropped their record down to 13-20 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, St. Charles East will challenge Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Saints are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Central, they will square off against St. Charles North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
