It was a good run, but the Miramonte Matadors unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Head-Royce 50-45. Miramonte was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Head-Royce apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Despite the loss, Miramonte still got an impressive performance from Marcus Robinson, who scored 23 points. Robinson scored a full 51.1% of Miramonte's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Koleton Fenton was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 7 rebounds.
Miramonte has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 4-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Head-Royce, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Miramonte will head out on the road to face off against Benicia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Head-Royce will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Concord at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
