On Tuesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Goliad had to settle for a 41-39 loss against Lifegate Christian. Goliad has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lifegate Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elena Mendez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Mendez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Lipsey, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and five steals.
Goliad has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Lifegate Christian, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Goliad will head out on the road to face off against Incarnate Word Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lifegate Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Annapolis Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
