The Carvers Bay Bears waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Johnsonville with points to spare, taking the game 63-46. This was a revenge contest for Carvers Bay, as the team was forced to settle for a 59-56 defeat when these two played two weeks ago.
Carvers Bay found their leader in underclassman Kenard Heyward, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Heyward is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Bateman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Carvers Bay's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Johnsonville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Carvers Bay will head out on the road to take on East Clarendon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carvers Bay knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully East Clarendon likes a good challenge. As for Johnsonville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hemingway at 7:45 p.m.
