The South Pittsburg Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Sale Creek Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Pittsburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Sale Creek is ranked 88th).
South Pittsburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 60-46 bruising from Copper Basin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Pittsburg in their matchups with Copper Basin: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Sale Creek unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-38 to Van Buren County.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Madilynn Ellis, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Caroline Holland, who scored six points.
South Pittsburg's record now sits at 3-2. As for Sale Creek, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.
South Pittsburg ended up a good deal behind Sale Creek in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 51-32. Can South Pittsburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
