Baseball Recap: Morenci Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Morenci unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Mogollon Mustangs by a score of 7-6. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Christopher Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. MJ Aguilar was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Morenci always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mogollon only posted an OBP of .379.

Morenci suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-4. As for Mogollon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morenci will welcome Pima at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mogollon will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Alchesay at 2:00 p.m. on March 18th.
