It was a good run, but the Johnson City Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 74-43 loss at the hands of Marion. Johnson City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-19.
When it comes to explaining why Johnson City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiden Fulton. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Corpus, who scored six points.
Braeden Fleming went supernova for Marion, scoring 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Richard Rayos, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists.
Johnson City's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Marion, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Johnson City will head out on the road to face off against Junction at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ingram Moore at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th.
