Chowchilla walked away with a 62-49 victory over Liberty. That's another feather in the cap for Chowchilla, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Chowchilla was led to victory by Khaled Escheik and Ryan Deatherage. Escheik scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Deatherage scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Deatherage is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zayne Smith, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Chowchilla's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.
Chowchilla will head out on the road to take on Fresno Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fresno Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chowchilla in California (Fresno Christian is ranked 306th, while Chowchilla is ranked 880th). As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
