Last Tuesday, St. Mary's suffered a rough 49-27 defeat at the hands of the Soldiers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Mary's in their matchups with the Soldiers: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, St. Mary's saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tyler Zimmerhanzel, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 48.1% of St. Mary's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brady Altman was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Grace Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 52-45 win over Providence Prep.
Grace Academy found their leader in underclassman Samuel Moore, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Canyon Maxwell, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Grace Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10.
