The Calhoun Tigers will be playing at home against the Greenville Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Calhoun came up short against the Rams and fell 56-44. Calhoun has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Calhoun's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Layla Gary, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks, and Alivia Mason who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Tyrianna Martin, who scored two points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Greenville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of Wilcox Central by a score of 52-49. The game was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but Greenville couldn't quite close it out.
Calhoun's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-13. As for Greenville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Calhoun was dealt a bruising 65-38 defeat at the hands of the Tigers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Calhoun was down 39-19.
