Sweeny and the Exporters are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Sweeny Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Brazosport Exporters at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Sweeny didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Cougars, but they still walked away with a 42-36 win.
Among those leading the charge was Shaylee Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Kayley Woods was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Brazosport stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Columbia with a sharp 51-29 win. The win was just what Brazosport needed coming off of a 68-33 loss in their prior contest.
Sweeny's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-10. As for Brazosport, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season.
Sweeny lost to the Exporters at home by a decisive 55-39 margin in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brazosport's Deja El Amin, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Now that Sweeny knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
