Kealakehe extended the longest winning streak in Big Island I this week by beating Waiakea, 26-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Waveriders.
The Warriors made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,457 from 8,682. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 26-12 victory over Waiakea last week.
Kealakehe's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jordan Cristobal threw for 90 and one touchdown and Lennox Costales had 48 yards receiving. On the ground David Fangupo chipped in 148 yards. Giuseppi Zapataoliva helped Kealakehe's passing attack out by catching two balls for 24 yards.
Kealakehe's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Waveriders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cristobal has thrown for 687 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Costales has 25 catches for 345 yards. Costales leads the league in rushing with 561 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Kealakehe takes on second place Hilo. Sam Papali'i's team beat the Warriors last week, while Hilo defeated Kea'au.
There should be lots of points scored when the Vikings and the Waveriders face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Hilo comes in having scored 111 this season, while Kealakehe has scored 197. David Baldwin's team scored 24 points last week as it beat the Cougars.
