The facts are in on one of the highest-scoring game in Northern Section history - a 115-110 four-overtime game between the
Tulelake Honkers and the
McCloud Loggers.
Tulelake pulled out the win in a game where the 225 combined points is the most ever in a Northern Section game. The total also ranks No. 10 in state history, according to Cal-Hi Sports.
The Honkers won the game at the free throw line, converting 23-of-38 free throws- while McCloud made just 4-of-7 from the line. McCloud committed 25 fouls in the game compared to just 11 for Tulelake. McCloud had four players foul out and Tulelake had one.
The two teams also combined for 28 three-pointers with Tulelake hitting 16 and McCloud netting 12.
The previous high combined scored for two Northern Section teams was 215 by Portola and Los Molinos in 1992. The Tigers defeated Los Molinos 141-74 in a first-round playoff game.
Tulelake had four players score over 23 points, led by
A.J. Kandra with 32 points,
Luis Montano with 28,
Jalan Perez with 26 and
Teagan Walker with 23.
Mawolin Summers and
Zach Dutton both had 34 points for McCloud while
Korbin Woolery had 18 and
David Wolfe had 16.
Austin Larson had another big week for
Redding Christian (Palo Cedro), scoring 150 points over five games to raise his season scoring total to 739 points in 24 games for a 30.8 average. He is 84 points away from passing Ricky King of Quincy, who holds the section record with 823 points.
Larson also is one of 64 players from California and 400 players in the nation who has landed on the nomination sheet for the McDonald's All-American Game. The contest annually features the top players in the country and the game MVPs include greats like LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal.
Larson also has 1,884 career points, pushing him past Brody Angley of Enterprise (1,873) on the all-time list. He ranks No. 15 all-time and is nine points behind No. 14 Joe Hughes of Gridley (1,893).

With 473 points in 21 games this year,
Kaden Riccomini of
Mt. Shasta has gone over the 2,100-point threshold and is closing in on the No. 3 spot on the all-time scoring list. He now has 2,196, which puts him 93 behind Danny Church of Westwood (2,289).

Jadyn Matthews of
Enterprise (Redding) is leading the Northern Section in scoring at 22.7 points per game. She recently had 32 points in an 82-40 win over Shasta and she had a 34-point game earlier in the season against Swett. For her career, Matthews has 1,322 points.

In an 83-18 win over Paradise earlier this week,
Maddyson Tull of
Gridley scored 29 points and became the first girl from Gridley to ever score over 1,500 points in a career. She has 1,502 points in four seasons on the Bulldog varsity.
She may not be the last. Sophomore
Kennedy Tull, Maddyson's younger sister, has 772 points and is averaging over 16 points a game this year.

Earl Johnson Jr. of
Ipakanni Early College Charter (Oroville) has upped his average to 31.4 points per game to lead the Northern Section. After hitting for 41 and 43 points in back-to-back games early in the month, he had a season-high 46 points in a 60-56 win over Westwood last week. Johnson has also upped his career total to 1,283 points.
