The Orangewood Christian Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 87-54 defeat at the hands of Forest Lake Academy. Orangewood Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-24.
When it comes to explaining why Orangewood Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Shrode. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shrode has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jack Benson, who scored nine points.
Forest Lake Academy had a senior duo take command as Isaac Lopez dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals and CJ Jena-Gilles scored 18 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Jena-Gilles scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Goris, who scored seven points along with seven assists and two steals.
Orangewood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Forest Lake Academy, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
Orangewood Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Central Florida Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. As for Forest Lake Academy, they will be playing at home against City of Life Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. City of Life Christian Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
