Basketball Recap: Green Hope Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Michael Joof and Kody Frey

Green Hope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 81-60 to the Panther Creek Catamounts. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-43 back in January.

Despite the loss, Green Hope had strong showings from Kody Frey, who posted 28 points and five boards, and Michael Joof, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Frey's third in a row with at least ten points. Mason Dean was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Panther Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lance Simpkins, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Simpkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Richardson, who went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points and seven assists.

Green Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Panther Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Green Hope will look to defend their home court on Friday against Green Level at 8:00 p.m. As for Panther Creek, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Middle Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middle Creek has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 171 points over their last three games.
