The Milaca Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Mora 66-61. While losing is never fun, Milaca can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while Mora is ranked 148th).
Milaca lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brock Talberg, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Landon Hasz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Milaca has fallen quite a ways from their 23-7 record last season and are now at 1-10. As for Mora, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milaca and St. Cloud Cathedral will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Mora, they will head out on the road to square off against Little Falls at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Little Falls will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
