The Ocean View Seahawks fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Garden Grove Argonauts on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Argonauts by a score of 61-58. Ocean View just can't catch a break and has now endured five losses in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Ocean View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Ackerman. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ackerman hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Girotti, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Ocean View were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garden Grove only racked up nine assists.
Drue Anzai was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points for Garden Grove. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anzai has scored all season. Evan Juarez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Ocean View has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Garden Grove, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-16.
Ocean View will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Garden Grove, they will be playing at home against the Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
