Softball Recap: Benton Central Has No Trouble Against Lafayette Central Catholic

There's no place like home for Benton Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights on Thursday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The game marked the Bison's most dominant victory of the season.

Reagan Dowell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mariyah Rich was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Madison Minniear was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Benton Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .343 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Benton Central's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.
