The Aquinas Blugolds came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Luther, posting a 67-29 win at home. Aquinas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five games by 24 points or more this season.
Leading Aquinas to victory were Madeline Murphy and Samantha Davis. Murphy went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists, while Davis scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Aquinas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Dobbins, who scored three points along with five rebounds.
Aquinas pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.27 points. As for Luther, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Aquinas and Westfield Area will round out the year against one another at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday at. Luther will finish 2023 at home by hosting Mondovi at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
