The Blue Ridge Barons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 82-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Anne's-Belfield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (63), Blue Ridge still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Blue Ridge got some senior leadership from Markus Robinson who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and Shanon Simango who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Robinson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamren Martin, who scored 11 points.
Chance Mallory continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Anne's-Belfield, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Mallory has scored at least 25% of St. Anne's-Belfield's points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel D?alessandro, who scored 18 points along with five assists.
Blue Ridge's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Blue Ridge will take on United Faith Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. United Faith Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Collegiate at 6:00 p.m.
