Basketball Recap: Christian Heritage Academy Takes a Loss

Christian Heritage Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boys' Home Hilltoppers. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hilltoppers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Christian Heritage Academy lost, don't look at Luke Mason. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds gave Mason a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Manning, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Christian Heritage Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Christian Heritage Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Boys' Home, they moved to 1-5 with that win, which also ended their 20-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Heritage Academy will take on King's Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian Heritage Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Boys' Home, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Christian Heritage Academy at 2:30 p.m. on January 11, 2025.
