Calhoun Academy is 8-2 against Dorchester Academy since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Dorchester Academy Raiders at 7:25 p.m. Hopefully Calhoun Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
Calhoun Academy struggled with threes on Thursday (Andrew Jackson Academy had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The game between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Calhoun Academy falling 63-47.
Chase Strickland put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Thornburg, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dorchester Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 win over Jefferson Davis Academy on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dorchester Academy.
Calhoun Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Dorchester Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Calhoun Academy against Dorchester Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 72-43 win.
