Softball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Takes a Loss

If Canyon Crest Academy was riding high fresh off their 14-7 takedown of Classical Academy on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ravens lost 11-5 to the Oceanside Pirates on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Ravens in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Canyon Crest Academy got a good showing from Grace Yao, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Yao has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Julia Piekarski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs. Another player making a difference was Kate Newlander, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Canyon Crest Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11-1. As for Oceanside, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-10.
