The Brillion Lions lost against the Valders Vikings back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Brillion took a 60-42 bruising from Valders. While losing is never fun, Brillion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Valders is ranked 103rd).
When it comes to explaining why Brillion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amaya Brooks. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Emma Schuh was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Brillion has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Valders, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brillion will take on Kiel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Brillion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Valders, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Holstein at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valders knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully New Holstein likes a good challenge.
