Rowlett is 9-0 against North Garland since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. After soaring to 41 points the game before, Rowlett were a bit more limited in their matchup two Thursdays ago. They lost to Wylie at home by a decisive 21-7 margin. While losing is never fun, Rowlett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Wylie is ranked 211th).
Meanwhile, North Garland was the victim of a tough 49-28 defeat at the hands of Lakeview Centennial on Friday. North Garland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-15.
The losing side was boosted by Mateo Howard, who picked up 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Rowlett has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for North Garland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Rowlett won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, slipping by North Garland 27-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rowlett since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
