The Magruder Colonels fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 20-13 victory over Wootton on Friday. That's two games straight that Magruder has won by exactly seven points.
Leading Magruder to victory were Preston Hamrick and Marcus Mccritty. Hamrick rushed for 37 yards and two touchdowns, while Mccritty rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown. Mccritty is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
When it comes to explaining why Wootton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Kelley. Despite the final result, he picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Magruder's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Wootton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Damascus the next time they take the field. Magruder will head out to face Damascus at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Magruder will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m.
