The Riverwood Raiders waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 88-60 victory over South Cobb. Given Riverwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while South Cobb is ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for JR Leonard, who scored 40 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Karris Bilal was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, South Cobb still got an impressive performance from Rajah Morgan, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kj Martin, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Riverwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for South Cobb, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverwood will take on Marist at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Riverwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches. As for South Cobb, they will be playing at home against St. Pius X Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Cobb is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
