The Otsego Knights will head out to take on the Elmwood Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Otsego is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Otsego and Rossford meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Knights walked away with a 7-2 win over the Bulldogs. Seven seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Bodde Simon made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.
In other pitching news, Cole Cryan tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
Simon wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Mentrek, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Mentrek has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Grady Frank, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Elmwood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They came up short against Liberty-Benton, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Royals couldn't push the score so high this time.
Otsego is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Elmwood, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Otsego has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Elmwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
