Basketball Recap: Lewis Angapak Piles Up the Points Against Kongiganak

Lewis Angapak won the last time they faced Kongiganak and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lewis Angapak Blue Jays claimed a resounding 81-15 victory over the Kongiganak Wolverines. The Blue Jays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 52 points or more this season.

Lewis Angapak was led to victory by Shalisa McDalton and Emma Friendly. McDalton made all 14 shots she took to post 30 points, while Friendly made all 9 shots she took racking up 20 points. Chandra Stone was another key player, putting up eight points.

Kongiganak lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Carol Phillip, who posted eight points. That's the most points Phillip has posted since back in December of 2023.

Lewis Angapak is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-4 Kongiganak (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 20% over those games). As for Kongiganak, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Chief Paul Memorial the next time they take the court. Lewis Angapak will head out to face Chief Paul Memorial at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Kongiganak will play them later in the day, at 9:00 a.m.
