The Mount Miguel Matadors will take on the Clairemont Chieftains in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mount Miguel took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over School for Entrepreneurship & Technology.
While Mount Miguel might've won, it sure wasn't easy: School for Entrepreneurship & Technology scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-20.

Mount Miguel's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zach Schmidt, who had ten aces and four digs, and Jamall Soulivong, who had 11 digs and five aces. Those ten aces gave Schmidt a new career-high.
They weren't the only good server: Mount Miguel was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 26 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Clairemont waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cougars.
Clairemont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-15, 25-9, 25-16.
Clairemont's win came from a few key players Mount Miguel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gabe Tocco, who had 17 kills and six blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had six or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Makoa Miner, who had 13 kills and five blocks.
Mount Miguel's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Clairemont, their record now sits at 9-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Mount Miguel has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.6 aces per game.
