King's Academy is 2-7 against East Texas Homeschool Sports since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The King's Academy Knights are on the road again and plays the East Texas Homeschool Sports Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully King's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, King's Academy had to suffer through a rough 74-30 loss at the hands of Grace Community. While losing is never fun, King's Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1467th, while Grace Community is ranked 716th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Everett Hollis, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Evan Hellwig, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, East Texas Homeschool Sports scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-43 win over Christian Home Educators on the road. The win was just what East Texas Homeschool Sports needed coming off of a 69-46 defeat in their prior game.
East Texas Homeschool Sports got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Mason out in front who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Mason hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Issac Hill, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
King's Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for East Texas Homeschool Sports, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: King's Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like East Texas Homeschool Sports struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
King's Academy lost to East Texas Homeschool Sports on the road by a decisive 61-44 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can King's Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
