Basketball Game Preview: Mid Valley Spartans vs. Lakeland Chiefs

Mid Valley is 10-0 against Lakeland since December of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mid Valley Spartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Lakeland Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. Mid Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.

Lakeland is hoping to do what Wyoming Valley West couldn't on Monday: put an end to Mid Valley's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Everything went Mid Valley's way against Wyoming Valley West as Mid Valley made off with a 59-38 win. Mid Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Mid Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakob Lesher led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Lesher a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleik Cook, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 59 points the game before, Lakeland was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were beaten by Dunmore 61-23. The contest marked the Chiefs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Mid Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Lakeland, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Mid Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeland when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 40-37.
