May River has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Bluffton Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. May River will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Bluffton is ranked 18th).
May River suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 56-31 defeat at the hands of Lucy Beckham. May River has not had much luck with Lucy Beckham recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Bluffton entered their tilt with Colleton County with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Bluffton took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 50-23 win over Colleton County. Bluffton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Bluffton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tacoya Heyward, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Heyward is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah Brown, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
May River's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Bluffton, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1.
May River took a serious blow against Bluffton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 42-11. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point May River was down 29-6.
